Superintendent's Office

Dear Wildcat Friends and Family,

It is my pleasure to welcome you to the start of the 2017-18 school year and officially introduce myself to the Wildcat Nation. I consider it a true privilege to have been appointed your new Superintendent of Schools and to bring my family back home. It is certainly a dream come true.

The Scottsboro City Schools has earned a reputation for academic and athletic excellence, and the numerous opportunities offered beyond the regular classroom setting are representative of our commitment to students, as they provide elevated learning experiences at all levels. As an educator for over 21 years, I place great significance on the programs and services we offer, and I am committed to bolstering past practices to safeguard opportunities that current and future students have in order to discover their interests and identify their specific skill set(s) for lifelong success.

In addition to the quality educational program, it was the level of community involvement and pride that drew me back to this district. I witnessed this sense of pride as I matriculated through the interview process and school visits and have experienced it firsthand over the past few weeks, as each of the faculty members, parents, students and residents I have met have been so welcoming and supportive. Please know I am committed to make every effort to nurture and promote this practice to ensure the continual accomplishments of our students, schools and community.

While serving as your Superintendent of Schools, I plan to be visible and accessible to our stakeholders and maintain an open door communication policy. I encourage and look forward to any questions, comments or concerns you have about our schools.

It is an exciting time for the Scottsboro City Schools, and I’m looking forward to the years ahead as together we move our students into what I believe is a bright future. Please accept my best wishes for a great 2017-18 school year.

As always, “We believe in the Black and the Gold. GO WILDCATS”.

Jay Reyes
