Mrs. Amy Childress

On Thursday, May 27th 2021, Scottsboro City Board of Education announced that Mrs. Amy Childress would be the interim superintendent effective June 1, 2021. Mrs. Childress has been employed with Scottsboro City Schools since September 2016. In her time with SCS she has been the Federal Programs Director and K-12 Curriculum Director. She has also served as Assistant Superintendent for Dr. Reyes during his tenure.

Dr. Jose Reyes Jr. announced his retirement from education in May 2021. While Reyes' retirement won't take effect until August 1, Childress will take over superintendent duties immediately while Reyes takes a more advisory role to assist in the transition.
